Where Culture Comes Alive

Cheyenne Frontier Days, a Wyoming event that celebrates the history and cultural traditions of the American West, is constructing a one-of-a-kind space for the purpose of celebrating and showcasing American Indian culture.

Throughout the storied history of our event, we have included performances by the Northern Arapahoe and Eastern Shoshone tribes. The aim of this new Morning Star facility is to provide a cultural focus for the Plains Indians and their contributions to our shared western history.

Located in the historic Confluence of the Plains, Cheyenne is the spot where the traveling buffalo hunting tribes of the western plains made camp, celebrated and honored their traditions. There is nothing like our planned Morning Star Indian Village anywhere in the region — not a museum, but a living celebration and immersive experience of American Indian culture.

Our dynamic venue will come alive during the 10-day show, and will then be available seasonally for visitors, including school-age children, expanding the season beyond July. This interpretive display will be a can’t miss location of Western and Native culture on Wyoming’s tourism highway.

A generous donation of just over $10 million is allowing us to construct this new facility. Guests entering the shaded, sunken dance arbor will be greeted with terraced stone seating and a grassy performance area. Three additional areas will showcase the sharing of oral history, artisan crafts, and listening to traditional instruments such as flutes and drums.
